Girl Scout Service Unit 410 (Highland Park, Lake Bluff and Lake Forest), part of Girl Scouts of the Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana Council, is proud to announce that 10 of our Girl Scouts earned Girl Scouts highest award, the Girl Scout Gold Award. Each Girl Scout received her Gold Award pin and a binder filled with congratulatory letters at the May 20th ceremony held at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is a national award with national standards. Girl Scouts identify an issue in their community, write a proposal outlining how they plan to address this issue. They are then required to interview with the Gold Award Committee to explain the merits of their proposal. The project is more than a good service project – it encompasses organizational, leadership and networking skills. The project requires a minimum of 80 hours and must have a lasting impact.
