Tom Skilling Returns for Climate Change Forum

Gade, Wuebbles also to speak at forum May 19 in Lake Forest. 20 groups join new expo.

The League of Women Voters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area (LWV-LF/LB) invite the public to an afternoon panel discussion led by WGN-TV’s Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling — combined with an environmental expo with nearly 20 local organizations and high school student groups. Cosponsored with Lake Forest High School, “Developments in Climate Change Science and Policy: Obstacles and Opportunities,” will be Saturday, May 19, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Lake Forest High School (LFHS Auditorium, 1285 N. McKinley Rd., Lake Forest). The event is free and open to the public.

Joining Skilling on the panel will be Mary Gade(Gade Environmental Group, LLC.) and Donald J. Wuebbles, Ph.D. (University of Illinois). Gade is a former regional administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Wuebbles is a professor of atmospheric science and presidential fellow. He is also the former assistant director with the Office of Science and Technology Policy at the Executive Office of the President (Washington, D.C.).

Together the panel will discuss recent developments in climate change science, policies, and strategies for the future.

A new environmental expo will take place before the forum with projects developed by students and community organizations. The expo opens at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium foyer and will remain open at the close of the forum until 6:30 p.m. Organizations taking part in the expo include:
