Truck Driver Arrested After Claiming To Be Off-Duty Cop: Blotter

Detectives track down identity thief, drunk Milwaukee woman with two warrants drives off road: Lake Forest Police Blotter, June 26–July 10

LAKE FOREST-LAKE BLUFF — The following information comes from the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police departments and court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ARRESTS

Minerva Martinez-Rios, 58, of the 2000 block of Sherman Avenue, North Chicago, was arrested around 9 p.m. on June 27 in the 800 block of Beverly Place and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a revoked license. Police were dispatched to a 911 call about a red SUV that drove off the road and struck a street sign before fleeing the area. Highwood police located the 2016 Toyota on Sheridan Road, and officers reported smelling alcohol on the breath of the driver, identified as Martinez-Rios. She was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Jatonne Q. Dismukes, 27, of the 2700 block of North 40th Street, Milwaukee, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on June 29 in the area of Route 41 and Deerpath Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher, driving with a suspended license and expired registration. Officers found she had driven off the road on Route 41 and reported she appeared intoxicated. After being taken into custody, she produced a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol concentration of nearly twice the legal limit. She also had two active arrest warrants issued in Cook County and was issued a citation for improper lane usage.

A 33-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 9 a.m. on July 1 at the intersection of Valley and Old Elm roads and charged with driving with a suspended license after an officer noticed him disobey a sign. He was also issued a citation for disobeying a traffic control device.

Eric D. Shaver, 30, of the 200 block of Countryside Lane, Lindenhurst, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on July 1 on a warrant and charged with impersonating a police officer. Police were told a motorist was approached by a tow truck driver at an intersection at 9:11 p.m. on June 16. The tow truck driver, later identified as Shaver by the name of the company on the side of his truck, claimed to be an off-duty Lake County sheriff's deputy. Shaver got into a verbal argument with the other driver, apparently angered by the way the other motorist was driving, before driving away, according to police. Prosecutors later approved a felony charge.

A 28-year-old Mundelein man was arrested around 7 p.m. on July 4 in the area of Everett Road and Oak Knoll Drive and charged with driving with a suspended license and ticketed for speeding after he was pulled over for driving 51 mph in a 35 mph zone on Everett Road.

Jimmie L. Edwards, 39, of the 200 block of Wildwood Drive, Round Lake Beach, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. on July 5 in the 900 block of Westmoreland Road and charged with identity theft and unlawful possession of a credit card. The investigation began when police got a report that a wallet had been stolen at Lake Forest Hospital and someone had later used the credit and debit cards inside. Detectives identified Edwards as the thief and the person who illegally used the stolen credit cards. Detectives were told he had been spotted at the hospital, where he was later arrested on the warrant. As of July 11, he remained held in the Lake County Jail in lieu of the $5,000 cash portion of his bond.
