Truck Fire Closed Route 41 in Lake Forest for Hours on Saturday

A truck caught fire in the southbound lanes near Lake Forest Hospital.

LAKE FOREST, IL - A truck caught fire on Route 41 in Lake Forest on Saturday, closing the roadway for hours.

The Lake Forest Fire Department responded to the scene in the southbound lanes between Deerpath Road and Lage Lane near the Lake Forest Hospital exit at 2:35 p.m. to find a "fully involved semi-truck trailer."

The driver, who disconnected the trailer from the truck, was able to move to safety and avoided injury.

The southbound lanes of Route 41 remained closed for hours on Saturday until salt was applied to make the roadway safe.

The truck was a refrigerated trailer carrying wine and cheese when it caught fire, according to a report from the Lake Forester.
