Lake Bluff police are working to pinpoint the source of a loud explosion heard early Sunday morning.

LAKE BLUFF, IL — Lake Bluff police are looking for the origin of a loud explosion heard in the area Sunday.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m., an officer on patrol felt the explosion, and a few people called police after hearing it, according to Deputy Chief Matthew Smizinski.
"One of our officers was in the general area when it happened," Smizinski said. "He was like, 'Whoah,'"

The officer was unable to find the source of the explosion after checking out the area, he said.
Lake Bluff police later confirmed with rail officials that there were no incidents on nearby lines. In a social media post Sunday, police asked residents with Ring home security camera videos that might aid in the investigation to call 847-234-2151.
