A Lake Forest based female business owner has filed a lawsuit in Lake County Illinois circuit court alleging discrimination in lending practices by Lake Forest Bank, a Wintrust Bank. A spokesperson for Eriem Surgical, Inc. a provider of hand held surgical instrumentation for Plastic and Reconstructive surgical procedures, states that women do not only encounter discrimination in the work place as an employee of a company, as business owners women also face discrimination when attempting to conduct business with male employees of businesses they interact with. Equal access to credit facilities should not be based on gender, women entrepreneurs should be treated fairly and equitably within the banking system and they should be accorded the same respect as their male counterparts. Women owned companies should be provided the same opportunities for growth and development as male owned companies that do business within the bank.
