Woodlands Academy Swimmer Qualifies for State Finals

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Swim Team – led by state-qualifier Caylee Hamilton – made a strong showing at the 15-team IHSA Girls Swim and Dive Sectional held at Niles North High School Nov. 15.

Hamilton, a sophomore from Wadsworth, advanced to the state finals – Nov. 21-22 in Evanston – with 4th-place finishes overall in both the 50-yard freestyle (:24.20) and 100 butterfly (:57.41). Both those times represented improvements over her previous personal-bests.

Mary Pinn, a freshman from Lake Forest, beat her own best times in both the 200 freestyle with a 2:05.99 and 100 backstroke with a 1:07.10 at the Niles North sectional.

Caroline Kordell, a senior from Lake Forest, beat her own best time in the 50 freestyle with a: 29.52. In all three cases, those times were the best in their heats but not enough, overall, to advance to the state finals.
