YMCA Community Gallery Showcases Imaginative Works by Artists with Special Needs
Artists from Keshet GADOL display paintings at the North Suburban YMCA in Northbrook.

During the month of July, the local artists of Keshet GADOL of Skokie, Illinois will be exhibiting their artwork at the North Suburban YMCA’s Community Gallery. The public is invited to an artist reception on Tuesday, July 14 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the NSYMCA, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.
The Sidney and Lisa Glenner Keshet GADOL (Giving Adults Daily Opportunities for Living) Program was established in 2002 to help integrate young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities into their community. GADOL gives its participants opportunities to socialize, gain valuable life skills, and volunteer. The art program has become very popular, as each new artist brings new perspective and inspiration.
The GADOL show at the YMCA Community Gallery features diverse types of artwork, from paint on canvas to watercolor to collages, from fourteen artists. One of the artists, Boruch Brandes, says he “finds inspiration in nature and loves to draw simple lines.” Themes of their art include bouquets of flowers, animals, and landscapes.
