CHICAGO (August 17, 2015) – Daniel T. McCaffery, CEO and Edmund C. Woodbury, President, of McCaffery Interests, will be honored on Nov. 5 with the Lifetime Industry Leadership Award at the 14th annual Real Estate Gala hosted by the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University. Gerald D. Hines, founder and chairman of Hines, his namesake internationally acclaimed development firm, will serve as the keynote speaker for the event which will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.

McCaffery Interests is a privately owned, full-service commercial real estate company that has been in the business of, developing, managing and investing in real estate for 25 years. Its portfolio of projects exceeds 20 million square feet and includes office, mixed-use, hotel, and residential properties, as well as large land developments.

Daniel McCaffery founded the company and as its CEO remains responsible for leading the vision, strategic direction, new business creation and enhancement for all aspects of the firm. With more than 35 years of experience in the industry, he has led the development and management of more than $2 billion of urban mixed-use projects.

As president of the firm, Edmund Woodbury is responsible for leading the firm’s executive management team and executing on the vision and strategic direction set by the firm. He has 30 years of experience in the real estate industry in numerous executive positions. He is now focused on the development and management of McCaffery’s development and property management activities across and in all markets.

Notable ongoing local projects by McCaffery Interests include the CMH Redevelopment – a partnership with Hines to develop the former Children’s Memorial Hospital site, The Roosevelt Collection, and 1115 W. Fulton Market. Other Chicago projects include Flair Tower, the Streets of Woodfield, The Hotel Burnham, Nike Town, The Morgan at Loyola Station, and The Bernardin. The firm also has projects completed or underway in Washington, D.C., Arlington, VA, Pittsburgh, Myrtle Beach, Minneapolis and San Francisco.

Keynote speaker Gerald Hines founded his namesake firm in Houston in 1957. Since then, the company has steadily grown into a global powerhouse in real estate investment, development and management. Hines is a frequent guest lecturer at major universities and a sought-after speaker at industry events.

“We are privileged to be hosting one of the greatest world leaders in real estate development as well as a guiding force in real estate education through the ULI/Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition and the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston,” says DeVries.
The gala will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, 120 E. Delaware Place, Chicago, starting at 5:30 p.m. Each year the gala is the premier real estate networking event of the year in Chicago with over 400 industry leaders in attendance. The event provides over half of the Institute’s annual operating budget as well as support for named funds and scholarships.

Since its founding in 2002, the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate has grown to become one of the largest graduate real estate programs in the country and one of the most diverse. When it was created, the institute had 25 people in its initial class. Today it has more than 50 enrolled students and more than 450 graduates, many of whom work at Chicago firms. The institute offers a master of business administration degree with a concentration in real estate as well as a master of science in real estate.
