Artemis Singers, www.artemissingers.org, Chicago’s lesbian feminist chorus, kicks off Pride Month a day early, Saturday, May 31, with “A Feminist Mosaic” Pride concert and dance at Broadway United Methodist Church, 3338 N. Broadway.
Open to the public, “A Feminist Mosaic” begins at 7:30 p.m. The dance with live DJ immediately follows the concert. Both concert and dance are accessible.
Tickets are a suggested donation of $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults. Tickets for seniors age 65 and older and for children age 12 and younger are a suggested donation of $10. Visit http://artemisfeministmosaic.brownpapertickets.com to purchase tickets online.
“We're celebrating our roots in the women's liberation and gay rights movements,” said Diana Clegg, co-artistic director, “A Feminist Mosaic.” Then as now, Artemis Singers is performing woman-affirming choral music that was written or arranged by women, providing opportunities for lesbians to be visible, expressing sometimes-radical political perspectives and being an integral part of the Chicago feminist women’s community. Artemis Singers is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization.
