The program, titled "Working to Address Sexual Assault," takes place at the University Club of Chicago, 76 E. Monroe Street at 5:30 p.m.

The Chicago Finance Exchange, (CFE), an organization of women leaders in finance across Chicago’s public, private, and non-profit business community, is pleased to announce Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan will speak at its dinner program Thursday, May 19. The program, titled “Working to Address Sexual Assault” takes place at the University Club of Chicago, 76 E. Monroe Street at 5:30 p.m.

The country’s senior-most female state attorney general will discuss the Attorney General’s office and how she has worked on the challenges, sexual assault in Illinois, including through passing landmark legislation to address rape and campus sexual assault.

“According to statistics, crime victimization costs the United States $450 billion annually (National Institute of Justice),” says Sara Hays, president of CFE. “Individually, abuse has a negative impact on women’s earnings. A 2000 MacMillan study estimated lifetime income loss of $241,000, which is certainly larger today. What affects one woman, affects us all, as individuals and communities.”
