Diversity, Inclusion Celebrated at Chicago Pride Parade

The 48th annual Chicago Pride Parade drew more than 250,000 people to the Lake View neighborhood.

Sunday, more than 250,000 spectators descended upon Chicago’s Lake View neighborhood for the 48th annual Chicago Pride Parade.

The parade, which kicked off at noon, started in Sheridan Park and ended in Lincoln Park. Numerous organizations participated in the parade, including the offices of elected officials, local businesses, corporations and healthcare organizations.

Advocate Health Care was one of the larger healthcare organizations that participated in the Chicago Pride Parade. More than 70 associates from across the healthcare system participated in the celebration by either walking in the parade with Advocate’s very own trolley or spectating in Advocate’s very own cheering section.

“Diversity and inclusion is an integral part of our organization’s mission, so it was encouraging and inspiring to be able to celebrate the LGBTQ community alongside my colleagues,” says Traci Biancalana-Barker, a nurse navigator in the Creticos Cancer Center at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
