Feigenholtz Hosting Utility Bill Savings Seminar

CHICAGO, Ill. – To help people save money on their gas and electric bills, state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, D-Chicago, is hosting a Utility Bill Savings Clinic with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) on Monday, February 3 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Merlo Branch of the Chicago Public Library, located at 644 W. Belmont in Lakeview.

“Every winter, we all spend more on our utility bills to stay warm and comfortable in our homes,” Feigenholtz said. “But there are many ways you can save money and ensure that utility companies are properly serving you.”

The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) is a non-profit consumer group created by the State Legislature to fight for the rights of utility consumers across Illinois. CUB challenges utility rate increases, fights for rate reductions and refunds of overcharges, and appeals unfair regulatory decisions in the courts.

Several CUB representatives will be on hand at the event to offer one-on-one assistance and provide attendees with a detailed analysis of their gas and electric bills.

“At CUB’s clinics, consumers learn well beyond just tips to help slash costs on their utility bills,” said Rajiv Ravulapati, Outreach Coordinator at CUB. “These clinics allow consumers to sit down with CUB staffers one-on-one to go over questions, have their issues heard, file complaints, and mostly importantly, learn to stand as their own advocates.”
