Feigenholtz Recognized by AARP As Legislator of the Year

CHICAGO, Ill. – At the Governor’s Conference on Aging and Disability this Friday, state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz was named Legislator of the Year by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) for her steadfast dedication to helping Illinois’ seniors have the services they need to live independently. The Governor’s Conference on Aging is the state’s largest, most comprehensive meeting of professionals that highlights cutting-edge developments, innovations, and best practices in the aging network from novices to experts.

“This conference is a prime example of all that can be accomplished through interagency cooperation, high standards, and a common goal of maintaining the welfare of every senior in our state,” Feigenholtz said. “Thank you to AARP for your ongoing commitment to providing seniors in our state and across the country with the legal, financial, and medical support and resources they deserve.”

AARP Foundation works to empower Americans 50 and older with the opportunities and confidence they need to achieve their goals. AARP focuses on four areas where immediate action and legal counsel will have the most impact: hunger, income, housing, and isolation.

“Representative Feigenholtz has long been an advocate for senior services and a driving force behind rebalancing Illinois’ long term care system to provide services where people actually need them,” said Bob Gallo, State Director of AARP Illinois. “Illinois’ commitment to home and community-based alternatives to institutions has grown extensively as a reflection of Sara’s commitment.”
