Feigenholtz to Host “Condo 101” Workshop for Associations and Owners

CHICAGO, Ill. - In a continued effort to help condominium owners and board members learn about their rights, responsibilities, and best practices, state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, D-Chicago, is hosting a Condo 101 Workshop on Thursday, April 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Olson Auditorium at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, located at 3000 N. Halsted in Lakeview.

“If you are having issues with your association, you can’t sit on the sidelines,” Feigenholtz said. “There are several actions you take as an owner or a board member to hold your neighbors accountable and make sure your association is running effectively.”

Sima Kirsch, an attorney with extensive experience in condominium law, will lead an informative presentation for condo owners and board members. Topics of discussion will include: fundamentals of ownership, owner and board rights and responsibilities, and helping associations go from good to great.

In February, Feigenholtz hosted a Roundtable Discussion for Condo Owners, where over 40 people joined a collaborative discussion with Sima Kirsch. Feigenholtz is also the chief cosponsor of HB 4204, which creates the Office of the Condominium Ombudsperson, an independent office to offer training and educational materials and courses to condominium unit owners and condominium associations. HB 4204 is currently under review in the House Judiciary Committee.

“People should never be put in a situation where they don’t know where to turn for help with their problems regarding condominium associations,” said Feigenholtz. “Thank you to Sima Kirsch for joining us again for this valuable crash course in best practices and procedures for condo associations and owners.”
