Kerry and Sarah Wood Announce Second Recipient of Kerry and Sarah Wood Family Foundation Scholarship
CHICAGO, IL (June 5, 2015)
It was a morning of celebration on Thursday, June 4th as retired Chicago Cub Kerry Wood and wife Sarah announced Marla Stamps as the second recipient of the Kerry and Sarah Wood Family Foundation Scholarship.
Taking place at Chicago’s Willis Tower, the “Sky Is The Limit” breakfast presented Stamps and her family to board members, supporters and friends of the Wood Family Foundation and was emceed by ABC7 anchor Karen Jordan.
Stamps will receive a four-year academic scholarship beginning in the fall which includes tuition, housing, fees, assessments, and a laptop computer.

Bette Bottoms, Dean at UIC’s Honor’s college welcomed Stamps to the university while social studies teacher, Ms. Matthews, highlighted her deserving of the award.
The Kerry and Sarah Wood Family Foundation scholarship was established in 2013 and benefits graduating seniors in the Austin, Englewood, Humboldt Park and Lawndale neighborhoods.

“We are lucky to be a part of these young women’s lives and journey to success,” said Kerry and Sarah Wood as they presented a video of 2013’s scholarship recipient, Gaby Santoyo. Currently in Shanghai for the semester, Santoyo offered up her support and guidance to Stamps who will be joining her in the fall at UIC.
The Wood Family Foundation (WFF) is a non-profit 501c3 organization that was founded in June 2011 by Kerry and Sarah Wood. The WFF works to improve the lives of children in and around Chicago by raising funds for programs. The WFF acts as an advocate for children in the Chicago community, inspiring others to join them in their mission of giving children the resources they need to succeed. www.WoodFamilyFoundation.org
