Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce Announces "Come Back to Broadway," a Special Event Celebrating End of Street Construction
The Event Includes a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Partners with Area Businesses to Provide LOCAL Shopping and Dining Specials from 4 – 8 p.m.

The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its special event “Come Back to Broadway” along Broadway from Belmont to Grace in Lakeview East, Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 4– 8 p.m. This summer North Broadway in Lakeview East has been the scene of construction while the city installed a new water main and repaved the busy street. This event marks the completion of construction and the welcoming back of neighborhood denizens and visitors to spread their local love to the shops and restaurants on North Broadway. The event is free to attend and more information can be found at lakevieweast.com.
“Come Back to Broadway” kicks off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m.at Melrose and Broadway, where Alderman Tunney will be in attendance. Following the ceremony, participants may enjoy live music, entertainment, deals from local stores and restaurants along Broadway, and free wine samples and celebratory cake on Best Western’s terrace from 5 – 8pm. In addition, Lakeview East ambassadors will be making their way throughout the area and performing random acts of kindness, including gift card purchases. “It is a great way for customers to spread their Local Love to our independent small businesses and celebrate the end of a year-long construction project.” says Maureen Martino, executive director, Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce.
Alderman Tunney commented on the construction and its completion “It has been a difficult year for business and residents on Broadway. While we know that these types of infrastructure improvements are necessary, it is still a relief to have the work completed. These new water and sewer mains will improve water quality and service to all customers. The additional street improvements should reduce flooding and ponding we see during heavy rains. Fortunately, these infrastructure improvements have a life of 50 years or more so we won’t see this level of disruption again. I want to thank the merchants and residents for their patience throughout this project and invite everyone to come back to Broadway!”
