Lakeview local Irene Lehrer Sandalow receives prestigious award

Irene Lehrer Sandalow has received the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago's 31st annual Samuel A. Goldsmith Young Professional Award.

Lakeview local Irene Lehrer Sandalow has received the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago’s 31st annual Samuel A. Goldsmith Young Professional Award.

The honor, presented at the Federation’s Sept. 13 Annual Meeting, highlights the achievements of early-career professionals whose exemplary performance at a local Jewish agency has benefited the entire Jewish community.

Sandalow is the founder and director of SketchPad, a Jewish shared workspace and community for innovative, mission-driven Jewish organizations and entrepreneurs.

Previously, Irene was the Chicago senior project manager of the Union for Reform Judaism's B'nai Mitzvah Revolution; she founded the Parent to Parent Initiative at The Jewish Education Project; and she worked at the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, where she educated, mobilized and organized members of the Jewish community in local and national social justice campaigns. Irene now serves on the boards of directors for JCUA and SVARA.

The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago is the one organization that impacts every aspect of local and global Jewish life, providing human services for Jews and others in need, creating Jewish experiences and strengthening Jewish community connections.
