Lakeview Pantry & Whole Foods Team Up on Tuesday, October 20 for "5% Day"

Whole Foods to Donate 5% of Net Profits to Lakeview Pantry

Lakeview Pantry, which provides emergency food assistance and other critical services to residents of Lakeview and surrounding neighborhoods, is pleased to announce a special partnership with Whole Foods Market that will help raise much-needed funds to support its mission of eliminating hunger.

On Tuesday, October 20, two of Chicago’s north side Whole Foods Market stores will host a shopping day to benefit Lakeview Pantry. A full five percent of the stores’ net profits will be donated directly to Lakeview Pantry. The two Whole Foods Market Chicago participating stores are located at:

• 3300 North Ashland Avenue (Ashland Avenue & School Street)
• 3640 North Halsted Street (Halsted Street & Waveland Avenue)

Customers and local residents are invited to visit either location on October 20 to shop for all-natural and organic products and raise funds for Lakeview Pantry. “This is a golden opportunity for our community,” said Gary Garland, Lakeview Pantry’s Executive Director. “We want people to spread the word about this important event. We’re asking our friends, supporters and neighbors to save their grocery shopping until Tuesday, October 20th. By shopping on that day, your Whole Foods visit will not only fill your own pantry, it will help fill ours.”

This initiative is part of Whole Foods Market Community Giving program, which allows individual stores to work with local communities to choose causes that are important to their shoppers and neighbors. Lakeview Pantry staff and volunteers will be on-site to greet customers and provide information about how they are working to eliminate hunger in Lakeview and surrounding neighborhoods. For questions about the partnership or how to participate in 5% Day, contact Sue Enright, Director of Development, via email at sue@lakeviewpantry.org or call 773-525-1777, x18.
