Loyola University Chicago First Friday Series: Duo Amantis

This month, we welcome the noted chamber music ensemble Duo Amantis as our FFS feature. With Tara Schwab on flute and Michael Kudirka on guitar, this pair “specializes in music of the 20th and 21st centuries, new works created in collaboration with living composers, and breathtaking arrangements of masterpieces from the Western canon.” They have shed new light on this commonly overlooked combination of instruments since being founded in 2006 at the California Institute of the Arts and we a are honored to have them as a part of our monthly series.

The duo has performed at many notable venues and concert series throughout the west coast. some of which include the REDCAT, Los Angeles Sonic Odyssey, Yellow House Concerts , the Alfred Newman Recital Hall, the California Institute of the Arts, the Interlochen Center for the Arts, the University of Oregon, and the Pacific Palisades Chamber Music Series. Schwab and Kudirka have also given masterclasses, seminars, and lectures at a variety of institutions including the University of Aberdeen (Scotland, UK), Duke University, the University of Southern California, the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Interlochen Center for the Arts and more.
