Ted Waltmire Brings His Lauded Musical Journey of Turning Pain into Laughter to MCL Chicago for a Limited Run

The Mighty Ted, tells the story of Ted Waltmire, who after suffering a stroke at the age of 56 years discovers creativity and gains independence through classes in Improvisation and Comedy Writing. This musical journey guides audiences through the highs and lows of the last seven years and includes new material not in the 2012 production. The Mighty Ted takes an unflinching and humorous look at his experiences dealing with the ER, hospitals, therapy, retirement, social security and ultimately re-discovering how to live life fully with the love and support of friends and family.

The Mighty Ted originally ran at The Second City Training Center’s Donny’s Skybox Theater in 2012. Written by Ted Waltmire, directed by Jay Sukow and musical direction by Stephanie McCullough Vleck, The Mighty Ted plays Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m. at MCL Chicago, 3110 N. Sheffield Ave., October 4 – November 16. The opening/press night is Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. The running time is 80 minutes including a 10-minute intermission. Tickets for The Mighty Ted, are $15 and are available at the door or at MCLChicago.com. All performances are BYOB.


Cast includes Ted Waltmire, Tom Bukovac, Greta Ferkel, Holly Gombita, Blake Mikol, Natalie Monterastelli, Beau Nolan, Emma Palizza, Jessica Parker, Kyle Ryan, Michael Shutack and Cheryl Szucsits.
