About the Festival:
IN/MOTION, the first Chicago dance film festival of its kind, celebrates dance performance within digital media platforms by fostering innovation in the presentation of movement-based artworks and encouraging artists to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration. This year’s IN/Motion is jam-packed with social justice! Events will include a reception and live dance performance at IES following a screening of the award winning documentary Trash Dance; a screening of Capturing Grace with a live dance demonstration performed by Hubbard Street’s Parkinson’s Project participants; and a curated screening of local artists’ dance/digital media work. Join us for three exciting days of dance film programming including screenings, discussions, and site-specific live dance performances. Partnerships include the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Parkinson’s Project, ADA25, and Loyola’s Institute for Environmental Sustainability. More information below and all events are FREE!

Capturing Grace is a movie depicting the power of modern dance that works to slow down Parkinson’s disease symptoms. In collaboration with Loyola is Hubbard Dance Street Chicago. We’re excited to team up with HDSC to bring light to the magnificent powers of dance.
Trash Dance is a movie that proves no dance move is too “trashy.” Follow choreographer Allison Orr as she shadows city garbage truck workers through their daily routines, ultimately convincing them that their movements and organization can be seen as a form of dance. Get to know the 24 drivers who take on the mission of forming a complete dance routine with the help of Orr…all with their garbage trucks.
