Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg's Thomas McNulty Honored by Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund

Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP is pleased to announce that partner Thomas J. McNulty was honored by the Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund (Trust Fund) for his 25 years of service with the organization.

McNulty has served as the organization’s first and only president since its inception in June 1989, when then-Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed him to the position. Andrew J. Mooney, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development, presented McNulty with an award on behalf of the city of Chicago and the Trust Fund’s board of directors.

At the reception, held on September 11, Mooney praised McNulty for his commitment to the Trust Fund and for his efforts in bridging the housing gap between market rents and what a low-income household can afford.

The Trust Fund oversees rental assistance programs that meet the permanent housing needs of Chicago’s very low-income residents by giving grants to building owners and developers who agree to reduce rents to accommodate these residents. In the last year alone, the Trust Fund’s efforts have supported 5,400 individuals.

McNulty, chair of Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s Real Estate Tax practice group, has significant experience in real estate taxation and related litigation. He represents a wide variety of taxpayers on a national level and has argued more than 50 reported appellate and Supreme Court cases. McNulty is the immediate past chairman of the board of directors of the Civic Federation and, in 2008, was selected by Daley to serve on the city of Chicago’s Property Tax Advisory Council.
