Orthopaedic Surgeon Specializing in Hip and Knee Procedures Joins Illinois Bone & Joint Institute
Jeffrey Ackerman, MD, is now seeing patients at IBJI's Chicago locations
Chicago, IL – Jeffrey Ackerman, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip preservation and hip and knee reconstruction, has joined the physician team at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI). Dr. Ackerman is fellowship trained in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement procedures. He performs minimally invasive anterior and posterior approach hip replacements. Dr. Ackerman is among a select group of surgeons trained in hip arthroscopy and open pelvic osteotomy surgery. He treats adolescents, young adults, and athletes with hip disorders including acetabular labral tears, femoroacetabular impingement problems, hip dysplasia, avascular necrosis and sequelae of pediatric hip problems.
A native of Michigan, Dr. Ackerman graduated with honors from The University of Michigan and The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his residency at William Beaumont Hospital, where he was elected chief resident by his colleagues. He completed fellowship training at Washington University in Saint Louis, one of the nation’s top orthopaedic centers in adult reconstruction, hip preservation and resurfacing.
A member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Dr. Ackerman serves as an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty. He enjoys golfing, road cycling, and spending time with his wife and two young sons.
