Park In Lake View To Get Facelift
Gill Park is getting a brand-new playground, Ald. James Cappleman announced.
CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Park District has hired a contractor to revamp the Gill Park playground, Ald. James Cappleman announced Wednesday. The facelift is expected to be unveiled in early September. Construction will take place over the summer months, the alderman said.
"When the Park District received the bids for the project, the cost was higher than expected," the alderman stated in an email to constituents. "But my office and Cubs Charities have filled that gap, allowing this project to move forward."
Neighborhood groups and community members fundraised for the project. The alderman praised those who contributed to making the revamp happen.

"The Gill Park playlot renovation is the fruit of years of labor," he stated.
Demolition of the existing playlot is expected to begin within the next month, the alderman said.
