Passersby Restrain Man Who Stole Phone From Driver: Police
Chicago police said the man hit a female ride-share driver, stole her cell phone, and then damaged her vehicle early Friday morning.
CHICAGO — A group of passersby held down a suspected attacker after they saw him rob a ride-share driver on the North Side Friday morning, police said.
According to witnesses, the man approached a female ride-share driver while she was stopped at a light around 12:50 a.m. and demanded she take him home. When she refused, officials said he hit the woman's hand and took her cell phone, then jumped on the hood of her car and broke her windshield.
He damaged the rear side door of another vehicle before he was restrained by witnesses until police arrived. No injuries were reported.

The incident took place on the 3400 block of North Clark Street. Police said the robber is a 24-year-old man.
