Possible Gas Leak Closes Streets Around Wrigley Field

A strong gas odor was detected outside the stadium Thursday afternoon in the Wrigleyville neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — Streets around Wrigley Field are closed Thursday while city workers investigate a possible gas leak in the area, according to WGN News meteorologist Mike Hamernik.

The road closures, which includes parts of Clark Street, started at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, after a strong gas odor was detected around the home field for the Chicago Cubs, Hamernik reported on Twitter.

No homes or businesses in the Wrigleyville neighborhood have been evacuated, and no injuries have been reported, according to NBC 5 Chicago.
