Say it Ain't Snow, Chicago

National Weather Service says models predict some snow on Saturday morning. And if it happens in Chicago, that will set a record.

The National Weather Service believes the conditions are ripe for snowl north and west of Chicago Saturday morning. The areas shaded in blue on these charts are where the models are forecasting some snow. (The model is from the HopWRF-ARW Ensemble for you weather buffs.)

“Temperatures will remain above freezing, so no accumulation is expected, and even snow isn’t a sure bet, but definitely looking like some areas stand a decent shot at seeing their first snowflakes of the season,” says the National Weather Service.

And if snow is seen in Chicago, that would be a record for earliest snowflakes ever reported in Chicago in October. The current record earliest trace of October snow took place on Oct. 5, 1935, according to the NWS.
