Southport Art Festival In Lake View: Artists, Transit, Events

CHICAGO, IL — The Southport Art Festival will bring more than 100 talented Chicago artists to the iconic Southport Corridor in Lake View July 14 and 15. The event will showcase a range of paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, jewelry and many other creations. The show will also feature live bands, beer and neighborhood cuisine.

The festival will be held at Southport and Waveland near Wrigley Field on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A children's area will be set up at the festival with interactive games and activities. Festival guests also will have the opportunity to view live art demonstrations and chat one-on-one with the artists.

People can also shop for handmade clothing, furniture, blankets, purses, belts, carpets, kitchenware and wood carvings, among other creations at the festival.

Getting to the festival via Transit:

The festival is a few blocks west of the Addison Red Line stop and a short walk north of the Southport Brown Line stop. CTA Bus #9 has a stop three blocks west of the festival at Ashland & Waveland. And Bus #152 stops at Addison and Southport, a block south of the event.

Bottle & Bottega will offer pop-up, step-by-step painting parties led by professional artists at the festival. Tickets are $20 per seat, and include use of all necessary paint supplies and aprons, instruction and a 10×10 take-home canvas.
