'Weather Roller Coaster' Brings Storms and 'Damaging Winds'

Rain possible tonight and a stormy Thursday ahead, says National Weather Service. Check out the forecast.

We’re on a “weather roller coaster” through Saturday, says the National Weather Service. In the Chicago area, a storm system taking shape in the southwest Wednesday night brings chances for showers and some thunderstorms to the area from west to east.

On Thursday, thunderstorms likely throughout the day as a cold front approaches with the potential for heavy rainfall. There will be a chance for some storms to become severe with damaging winds Thursday afternoon and evening. Highs Thursday will warm into the mid to upper 70s.

The cold front will pass Friday morning with high temperatures occurring early then falling into the 50s by late afternoon. Gusty west winds and scattered showers will add to the chill. Saturday will be the coldest day with highs in the lower 50s.
