
Karima Bentounsi has been named chief executive officer at Weiss Memorial Hospital. She will lead the overall direction, strategy, and operation of the hospital ensuring clinical quality, patient safety and experience, and employee engagement.
Bentounsi has been with Weiss since 2012 and has served as interim CEO since January, 2017. Prior to her recent appointment she was chief operating officer of Weiss and was a key leader in developing the hospital’s Gender Confirmation program, one of five in the country.

Bentounsi was previously senior director of operations at the Cook County Health and Hospitals System, the nation’s third largest public health system. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a board member of Uptown United. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
