Woman Sues City Over Claims She Fell On O'Hare Escalator
Lawsuit alleges City of Chicago allowed escalator to contain metal teeth that could attach to riders' clothing and shoes.

A woman is suing over claims that she fell on an escalator at O’Hare International Airport while trying to make a connecting flight.
Alexandra Cleland filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against the City of Chicago, alleging that she became entangled in the escalator’s metal teeth in Terminal C as she attempted to a connecting flight to Vancouver.
The lawsuit maintains that the city allowed the escalator to contain metal teeth that could attach to riders’ clothing, shoes or personal belongings.

Further, the city failed to warn Cleland and other riders of the escalator’s and was negligent in providing a sufficiently safe entrance to Terminal C, the complaint said.
Cleland is asking for $50,000 in damages.
