Wrigleyville Taco Bell Demolition Delayed
The iconic Taco Bell will live to see a few more months.

CHICAGO — Demolition of Wrigleyville's beloved Taco Bell has been delayed until the first week of December, according to several reports. The first day of its demolition was originally scheduled for Nov. 1.
The Taco Bell at 1111 W. Addison St. will be replaced with a three-story retail building. The new space will include a gym and a climbing wall on the top two floors.
For 24 years, the Wrigleyville Taco Bell at 1111 W. Addison St. has offered cheap fast food for hungry fans coming out of Wrigley Field after games. The restaurant is well known across Chicagoland for cheap chalupas and good times.

Last year, fans of the Taco Bell rallied to save the spot when they found out it was going to shut its doors. "Save Taco Bell" T-shirts were even designed to protest the closure.
Nisei Lounge at 3439 N. Sheffield Ave. hosted a wake on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. to mourn the popular fast food spot's closure.

But fans of the old Wrigleyville spot now have a new option — another Taco Bell has sprung up and opened its doors at 920 W. Belmont Avenue. Opened by Yum! Brands, the new Taco Bell sits a few blocks away from the old iconic one.
The new Taco Bell on Belmont Avenue is open from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
