• Woman falls asleep while driving, causing car to veer off into water along Route 59 in North Barrington (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Lake Zurich Fire Rescue crews helped save a 70-year-old driver after her SUV left Route 59 in North Barrington and became partially submerged in a retention pond Tuesday afternoon. Deputies say she fell asleep at the wheel before veering off the road; Route 59 was shut down south of Route 22 while rescuers worked and the crash remains under investigation.
• Addison Schaffer, Crystal Lake Central beat Belvidere North for fourth sectional title in a row (shawlocal.com) — Crystal Lake Central’s girls soccer team will head to the Lake Zurich Supersectional on Monday after winning their fourth straight sectional title with a 3-1 victory over Belvidere North. Led by standout performances from Addison Schaffer and Jordin Gaunaurd, the Tigers battled intense heat and a late push from Belvidere North to keep their postseason run alive.
