Ela Area Public Library Searches For New Executive Director

Brenda Duff, assistant director, will act as interim executive director.

The is on the search for a new executive director. In the meantime, Brenda Duff, assistant director, will serve as interim executive director, and Erica Christianson, manager of popular materials, will serve as interim assistant director.

Duff has been working at for more than 19 years, starting out as a children’s librarian.

Christianson has been with for more than 16 years and was chosen by Duff to assist her. Duff cited Christianson’s knowledge of policy and procedures and said “she manages multiple departments, and is involved in managing the next big project – the media lab.”

Mary Beth Campe resigned as executive director of . Her last day was July 16, after which she assumed the same role at the Elmhurst library.

Duff and Christianson will be giving up some front-desk time during the search for a new executive director, but a few part-time employees will put in the extra hours.

“They will pick that additional time,” said Duff.

The library board selected the professional search firm Miriam Pollack + Associates to assist them in finding the next executive director.

A special meeting will be held Aug. 17 with Miriam Pollack specifically to write up a job description and begin the search.

The board anticipates filling the position by November.

“Mary Beth was very active in the community and we want to keep that going,” said Duff.
