The village attorney advised the board to approve the event, but that the authorization be subject to review and possible modification regarding village liabilities required by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) due to the closure of state roads.
The same decision was made for the Alpine Races, which would require the temporary closure of westbound Route 22 from Whitney Road to West Main Street and West Main Street from Robertson Road to Old Rand Road.
The races also begin at 6 a.m. and will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25.
The final event approved by the board was a walk-a-thon for The Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC) Foundation. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18, at Paulus Park.
