Village Board to Hold First 2012 Meeting Tonight

Village administrator's separation/severance agreement, downtown redevelopment plan among agenda items.

A number of topics are on the agenda for tonight's meeting, including:

  • The Downtown Lake Zurich Redevelopment Strategies Plan. The plan reviews the financial and market conditions, along with planning and zoning documents, related to downtown Lake Zurich. The plan also includes strategies regarding financing, commercial and residential development, bond structure, zoning, and the .
  • Ratification of Village Administrator Bob Vitas' separation agreement, along with severance benefits. . According to documents provided with the Village Board agenda, "Vitas will receive severance benefits equal to six months compensation based on his yearly base salary of $145,000, deferred compensation of $6,500, and vehicle allowance of $6,500, from December 31, 2011 through June 30, 2012. The compensation portion of the severance benefit will be paid in one lump sum at the beginning of January 2012." The agreement also allows Vitas and his family to participate in the village's health insurance plan through June 30, at which time he can receive benefits through the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, or COBRA. The agreement originally was signed by Vitas and Mayor Suzanne Branding in November.
  • Audit Services Contract. The village's audit service selection committee is recommending that the board award Sikich LLP a contract to perform audit services for the village for three years at $89,921 β€” or for five years at $148,693.
