Updated Snowfall Totals As IL Winter Storm Continues
Chicago weather: Several more inches of snow are in the forecast as a winter storm warning remains in effect.

After more than 6 inches of snow for some areas last night, a winter storm warning remains in effect for most of the Chicago and northern Illinois area until 6 p.m. Friday. The warning includes DuPage, Cook, Kendall and Will counties. According to the warning, an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected, with moderate to heavy snow occurring.
The end times of the storm were extended, as additional snow is developing across northwest Illinois, and will drift eastward this afternoon, according to the NWS.
The snowfall caused school closings, hundreds of flight cancellations and trash pickup delays for some areas.
