45 MPH Wind Gusts Expected, Power Outages Reported Across IL

A special weather statement has been issued across the Chicago suburbs due to the expected wind this afternoon.

ILLINOIS — Wind gusts of up to 45 mph are possible Monday afternoon across the Chicago suburbs, the National Weather Service said. The weather service has issued a special weather statement for Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois and Ford counties.

The weather service said there will be a period of southeast to south winds of 20 to 30 mph, which could gust up to 40 to 45 mph at times from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday. These winds could make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles on west to east roadways.

Some towns are already reporting power outages from the wind, rain and storms hitting the area. As of 2 p.m. Monday, ComEd was reporting these outages:
