6 Inches Of Snow Possible During Late-Season Snowfall: IL Weather
The weather service said the heaviest snow will be between 2 and 7 a.m. Friday, and 2 to 6 inches of snow is possible.
ILLINOIS — Although we're well into April, a late-season snowstorm will move its way into the Chicago area late Thursday and early Friday. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Will, Kankakee, Iroquois, Grundy, La Salle and Ford counties. The exact times of the advisory vary depending on how far south you live, but most towns will be under the advisory from 11 p.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Friday.
The weather service said the heaviest snow will be between 2 and 7 a.m. Friday, and 2 to 6 inches of snow is possible. Snow will be moderate to heavy, with 1 inch an hour possible during the night.

Areas north of Chicago will receive the least amount of snow, while suburbs south of Chicago will receive more. The Waukegan area will receive 1 to 3 inches of snow; the Elgin area will receive 2 to 4 inches of snow; Joliet will receive 3 to 5 inches of snow; and Kankakee will receive 4 to 6 inches of snow, according to the weather service.

The Friday morning commute will have slippery road conditions. Drivers should slow down and use caution if they have to travel.
