6 Inches Of Snow Possible, Potential Snowstorm Headed For IL
The potential snowstorm would hit the area Sunday afternoon and continue until Monday evening.

Grab your shovels and bundle up, it looks as if yet another snowstorm is heading for Illinois. Before that potential snowfall on Sunday, we will have a mostly calm Friday evening and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Light snow should end Friday evening, although it will still be cold with a high of -7. Saturday will be partly sunny with a high of 12, although wind chill values will be as low as -7, the NWS said.
The potential snowstorm is set to arrive Sunday late afternoon or early evening. Snow will hit much of the area, with the highest amounts forecasted north of I-80. Towns with the highest percent chance of seeing 6 inches of snow or more include: Midway (53 percent), Chicago (56 percent), Rockford (77 percent), Woodstock (81 percent), Waukegan (74 percent) and O'Hare (58 percent).

The NWS said the snow would end Monday evening and could impact the Monday morning commute. Keep an eye on the forecast and plan ahead for travel impacts.

- FRIDAY NIGHT: Snow, mainly before 10 p.m. Low around -7. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- SATURDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 12. Wind chill values as low as -7. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
- SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6. Wind chill values as low as -4. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming west northwest after midnight.
- SUNDAY: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 15. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
- SUNDAY NIGHT: Snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 6. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
