Community Corner
An amazing opportunity for fun, exercise and a community effort to rally emotional and financial support.
The WILL Power Challenge a multi challenge event for all ages to be held on Saturday May 13th on the campus of River Valley/Oakwood Campus
Dear Friend,
Too often we hear of another diagnosis of cancer. One time is too many when it involves a child.
In December 2010, at 6 years of age, Ellie was launched into her battle that continues to this very day. Ellie is a 12 year old student at Old Quarry Middle School. She is so much more than her battle, she is a warrior right here and right now. She, like Will for whom this event was created, has worn the label of a child battling cancer but who would rather be known by their living examples of will, strong spirit and determination that are the inspiration for this event:

A team of friends, family and community persons who have been moved to act are working together on this, the second ever event of this kind and only of it’s type in our corner of the world, that will challenges each team/participant. A caring community of people will gather in the planning and on this day who want to show support for Ellie and her family and enjoy the energy and fun of the day as we did for Will who is joining us this year as inspiration, competitor, and cancer survivor!
Our goal is to provide an opportunity for Ellie to view this amazing outpouring of support and feel much needed positive energy, compassion, love and hope to power her through her continued battle. We are thrilled to have Will celebrating this event with us wearing the title of “Cancer Survivor”, he and Ellie being the inspiration for this year’s event encouraging others who are struggling.
We are hoping to raise funds to absorb of the costs of facilitating this event (tee shirts, food, material for obstacles), we want this to be successful event to raise funds to assist Ellie with her continued costs of her treatment for her battle, but most importantly we are coordinating this event to lift her spirits and show her how much she and her family are appreciated, valued and loved.
Would you consider being a “WILL Power Challenge” Sponsor?
The sponsor levels, options, information request and acknowledgment premiums are listed on the following sheet. All donations/sponsorship are tax deductible donations, Hope and Friendship is a 501C3.
We know there are countless requests for your financial support and understand if you are unable to assist with this one, but do ask if you could offer emotional support in whatever way you are able: thought, prayer, volunteer, and/or by helping to spread the word of this event. We are looking to fill the Oakwood/River Valley School campus on May 13th and lift the heart and spirit of Ellie as she views the sea of “lime green” (her favorite color!) celebrating her, her courage, her determination and her amazing spirit.
Thank you on behalf of the entire “WILL’s Challenge” team, Ellie and her family.
Wishing you peace & strength in all of your challenges,
Terri

The WILL Power Challenge-
last year we celebrated and rallied support for a young friend in the
battle. This year on Saturday May 13th, we will gather to do the same
for yet another young friend who has spent half of her 12 years of life
in the battle. I need volunteers to make this year's event happen:
create the challenges, keep the score, host the snacks/water, keep the
event flowing, masters of PR, registration volunteers, raffle basket
collectors, sorters and ticket sellers, those who can offer time to make
a difference in the life of a young friend who is a warrior in our
midst. We also need sponsors who will be listed on the tee shirts and banners. Email me for details.
Come to either one of the volunteer meetings it's that important that I am setting 2 nights aside to rally the army!!!
