Tell us about your star student's accomplishments and why they deserve to be recognized on Patch!

She was the Student of the Month for LHS in April. The English Department named Ava Amato as the Senior Student of the Month. Ava is a high honor roll student who most enjoys Journalism and AP Government & Civics. Ava is in her eighth semester of journalism classes and serves as the co-editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. She is heavily involved in planning and leading staff meetings and is a significant behind-the-scenes contributor who makes the newspaper better. In College Writing, her work is inspired and passionate, and she asks smart questions and provides sharp insights. Ava is a member of the girls track and field team and has earned induction into the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society. She plans to study public policy at the University of Illinois Chicago. Ava enjoys reading, listening to music and driving around with her friends.
