LEMONT, IL — Three Lemont High School student-athletes have announced their commitments to compete collegiately beginning in Fall 2026, the school shared in a news release. Students include baseball player Cannon Madej (Southwestern Illinois College), women’s wrestler Molly O’Connor (University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point), and cheerleader Morgan Sadelski (Drake University).
LHS provided some information each student below:
Cannon Madej – Career Highlights
• Four-year varsity contributor for head coach Brian Storako
• Two-time all-conference performer who helped Lemont to a composite record of 90-25-3, two South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles, and a state runner-up finish in his first three seasons
• Lefthanded pitcher who also is the team’s primary first baseman
• Entered his senior year with a 17-4 record and a 1.82 ERA in 103.2 innings pitched
• Fanned 124 batters (8.37 per seven innings) and held opponents below a .200 average each year
• Also had batted .223 with five doubles, 17 RBIs, and six stolen bases
• Has appeared in 24 games (through games of May 11) and is batting .353 with two home runs and 28 RBIs
• Is tied for the team lead in RBIs and tied for third with 16 walks
• Ranks third on the team in on-base percentage (.494)
• Repeated as an All-SSC performer as a junior in 2025
• Earned his first All-SSC honor as a sophomore in 2024
• Debuted on the varsity squad as a freshman in 2023
• Plays travel baseball for Chicago Elite
• Honor Roll student
• Will play for head coach Dave Garcia at Southwestern Illinois College, an NJCAA Division I institution located in Belleville.
Molly O’Connor – Career Highlights
• Earned four varsity letters for coach Rob Hammerschmidt
• Finished her career as the program’s first four-year letterwinner and its career leader in wins and pins
• Three-time state qualifier and a four-time all-conference performer
• Posted a career record of 132-47, with 91 victories coming via fall
• Holds the two highest single-season victory totals in program history
• Served as a team captain her last three seasons
• Became the program’s first state medalist as a senior in 2026
• Finished with a 44-12 record and a career-high and program-record 33 pins
• Won three invitational titles
• Was the South Suburban Conference runner-up, and placed third in both regional and sectional competition
• Won three times at the 2026 IHSA State Finals on her way to a sixth-place finish at 125 pounds
• Cited as an Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Academic All-State selection
• Represented IWCOA in the Team Illinois vs. Team Indiana dual
• Participated in the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps 16U Junior National Championships
• Has wrestled for Natural Athlete, West Suburban Girls Wrestling Club, and Greg Gomez Trained
• High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
• Will wrestle for head coach Jake Wozniak at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, an NCAA Division III institution located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Morgan Sadelski – Career Highlights
• Earned three letters for head coach Bree Grady-Simpson
• Helped Lemont to two South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles, two sectional crowns, and consecutive IHSA Medium Division State Championships
• Two-time all-conference selection
• Provided vital leadership throughout her career
• Cited as the team MVP and earned All-SSC honors as a senior in 2026
• Was again selected for the team’s “Most Spirited Award” while also earning All-SSC honors as a junior in 2025
• Made her varsity debut as a sophomore in 2024, picking up the team’s “Most Spirited Award”
• Member of Lemont’s Golden Cheer & Dance team who also has participated in track and field
• High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
• Will cheer for head coach Meghan Benson at Drake University, an NCAA Division I institution that is located in Des Moines, Iowa, and is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.
