LEMONT, IL — Cook County property taxes (second installment tax bills) should be mailed out before Labor Day, Lemont Township shared.
The Township Assessor's Office has learned that the Cook County Assessor's Office continues to work on the backlog of the previous year's certificate of error applications.
The Township said that as of July 17, there is still a backlog of 5,531 certificates of error. After 2025 is completed, the County will begin certificates for 2026.
The Cook County Board of Review has also announced they are now accepting pre-registration requests for all townships. Pre-registration allows taxpayers to be notified by the Board of Review of the opening and closing filing periods for their respective townships.
The pre-file period allows all filers to submit their appeal before each township officially opens, the Township said. The pre-file period will end once the respective township is open.
