78 MPH Wind, 1.75-Inch Hail Recorded In Lemont During Monday's Storms

LEMONT, IL — Severe weather on Monday brought power outages, downed trees and branches, and flooding to Lemont, and the National Weather Service crews are still assessing damage across the Chicago area.

The National Weather Service has compiled local storm reports, and shared that a 78 mph wind gust was recorded at a 10-meter tower near Argonne Lab during the storms. A downed tree was found close by as well, according to the report.

Also, 1.75-inch hail was recorded in the Covington Knolls subdivision in Lemont.

No tornadoes have been confirmed in the Lemont area; but the National Weather Service did confirm an EF-0 tornado which impacted western and northwest Orland Park, as well as damaging straight line winds (less than 70 mph) which hit Downers Grove.

Several thousand people were also originally without power in Lemont after Monday's storms. As of noon on Wednesday, 129 customers remain without power in Lemont Township, and eight are without power in Lemont, according to the ComEd outage map.
