The initiative will help provide women in need and survivors of domestic abuse with purses filled with personal care items.

LEMONT, IL — State Representative Nicole La Ha is joining Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton and fellow Illinois lawmakers in supporting the 2026 #LovePurse Drive.

The initiative will help provide women in need and survivors of domestic abuse with purses filled with essential personal care items and handwritten messages of encouragement, according to a news release from La Ha's office.

"For a woman facing a difficult chapter in her life, something as simple as a purse filled with everyday essentials can be a meaningful reminder that she is seen, valued, and supported," La Ha said in a news release. "Many of us take these basic necessities for granted, but for someone rebuilding her life or escaping an abusive situation, they can make a real difference. I'm proud to be part of an effort that brings women together to lift up other women when they need it most."

Through Oct. 31, residents can donate purses filled with everyday necessities, like feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, socks and other personal care items. Residents can also leave a handwritten message of hope and support, a news release shares.

Donations can be dropped off at La Ha's district office, located at 12271 Walker Road in Lemont.

"Every woman deserves to know she has people in her corner," La Ha said. "I encourage families, friends, local businesses, and community organizations throughout our district to get involved. A small gesture of kindness can leave a lasting impact, and together, we can remind these women that they are not alone."
