"To see Old Quarry climb 179 spots in just one year is an incredible accomplishment and a reflection of the outstanding work happening in our schools," Dr. Courtney Orzel, Superintendent of District 113A, said in a news release. "We are equally proud of River Valley for earning this statewide recognition. These rankings reflect the dedication of all our SD113A teachers, staff and administrators, the hard work of our students, and the partnership we share with our families."

U.S. News and World Report's annual rankings evaluate approximately 46,000 public elementary schools and more than 24,000 public middle schools nationwide, using student achievement data in mathematics and reading/language arts. The rankings consider academic performance across student populations while accounting for school demographics.
