Driver Dead In Head-On Crash On Archer: Lemont Police

Both drivers suffered serious injuries in the crash, police said.

LEMONT, IL — One driver was killed when two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash on Archer Avenue Friday afternoon, police said.

Police responded to the crash around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Archer and Oak Tree Lane.

Officers determined both drivers suffered serious injures. The Lemont Fire Department, with assistance from the Palos Fire Department, took both drivers to separate hospitals.

One of the drivers was later pronounced dead of their injuries at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, police said.

Archer Avenue in Lemont remains closed for an extended period as the crash is under investigation, police said Friday evening.

The investigation is being done by the Lemont Police Department, in cooperation with the Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team (MERIT) crash reconstruction unit.

Drivers are asked to avoid Archer Avenue and find alternate routes.
