Community Corner

Are you, your family, home, workplace, schools, churches prepared for the unexpected storm or disaster?

In recognition of National Prepareathon, Lemont Medical Reserve Corps is encouraging residents to share photos of how prepared they are.

National Preparathon joins communities across the country to take action and prepare for emergencies, weather and other.

Our Lemont community well understands the destruction of a tornado, the incredible loss of a home fire, the work required to clean up from flooding, and the realization of having high risk situations within our borders (trains, refinery, interstates, etc.).

Lemont Medical Reserve Corps invites you to share a photo of you, your family, your school room, your work place, your church demonstrating how you are preparing or prepared for the unexpected. The turn of the season brings the possibility of a spring storm and turbulent weather patterns (flooding, tornadoes), no one is guaranteed to be free of the possibility of a home fire, everyone has the potential to be a victim this is a chance to exercise your preparedness in the hopes of being the victor over an emergency or crisis that you might encounter.

Take this opportunity to fill that storm and fire safe box with personal information (birth certificates, social security cards, a inventory of your home and belongings); practice your fire escape plan; know where your safety kits, flashlights and emergency radios are at home and work. Take a picture and share it on "Lemont Responds"  Facebook page to show that Lemont residents are ready, safe and prepared.
